HK PK “YUMCO” A.D. Vranje is a joint stock company whose history began in 1960, with the decision on the establishment of the National Board of the Municipality of Vranje. By the decision of the People’s Committee of the Vranje municipality on the establishment of the Spinning and Cotton pads in the construction of the 1960s started the history of today’s HK PK “YUMCO” AD Vranje. The main activity of the newly formed company was the production of cotton yarn and various types of cotton fabrics. The first meters of fabric originated from machines in early 1964, when trial production began. At that moment, the plant employed 1200 workers in four plants: Chambers, Prepares, Weaving and Doors. A year later, regular production started and in the next decade high performance results were achieved, primarily in the production, realization and growth of employees’ salaries. This enabled the first major investments, but also a job for another 900 workers. In the second decade of existence, the Cotton Combine has entered as a renowned manufacturer of yarns and fabrics. In this period, more precisely in 1978, the opening of the Factory “Konca” and “Konfekcija” started production of clothing and finishing. In the 1980s and early 1990s, the new concept of “Yumco” united all the confections in Vranje, Vladicin Han, Surdulica and Preslap. Buildings were also built in Golem Selo, Radovnica, Presevo, Kosovo Polje, Bosilegrad, Bujanovac and Kosovska Mitrovica. These capacities have been hired by 5,000 workers, and a wide range of men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and knitwear in huge series, recognizable patterns and models are delivered to the market through their own retail network and transport. Sanctions slowed the company’s intense growth, but it did not stop its production and its investment investments. The downstream of Bujanovac Spa has been built a modern factory for the production of water and non-alcoholic drinks “BIVODA”. The production started at the end of 2000 as one of the production units “Yumca”. The period of transition of the Serbian economy was also the most difficult in the development of our Company. In those years there was a reorganization in the work that led to the recovery and gradual return of production to old capacities. At the beginning of 2011, the Privatization Agency issued a Decision on initiating the process of restructuring “Yumca” during which the privatization model will be determined.
